All teacher education majors have an opportunity to learn about urban education from first-hand experience. You will spend between 5-6 hours in one Chicago Public School to experience education in an urban setting. It could help you decide if you want to eventually teach in an urban setting. It will help you learn more of what it is like to work with children from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. If you have little experience up to this point, it is an important opportunity for you to broaden your experience. We are not always picking the top schools because the purpose of the trip is to see urban education as it is not always what we hope it would be.
Who: All education majors on a first-come basis
When: Friday, October 21, 2011, 6:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m

Receive five clinical hours that will be applied to your diversity hours that are needed for graduation. They will not be in place of, but in addition to your required clinical hours.
The buses will fill up quickly so you must sign up quickly. Once the buses are full, we will no longer accept other students. If you sign up for the trip and then decide not to go on the trip, there will be no refund of your money. In accepting you on the trip we are turning others away and we still have to pay for the bus whether the seat is taken or not.
If you have any other questions regarding the trip, contact Marilyn Moore.
