(August 15, 2011) College of Education Dean Deborah Curtis has named Maureen Angell interim chairperson for the Department of Special Education. She has most recently served as the doctoral program coordinator for the department, and is a co-lead researcher for the PiCS (Parent-implemented Communication Strategy) program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education Institute of Education Sciences.
Angell joined the College of Education Department of Special Education in 1996. During her tenure, she has taught courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels, relating to family-professional collaboration, single-case research design, applied behavior analysis, assistive technology, and contemporary topics in special education. She has numerous publications to her credit, has presented at local, regional, national and international conferences, and her research and scholarly endeavors have contributed more than $986,000 in external grants to the college.
