Debbie Shelden, 2010-2011 College Leadership Development Program Associate

Shelden named first college leadership development program associate

(May 4, 2010) Debbie Shelden, associate professor, Special Education Department, has been selected to serve as the first College of Education Leadership Development Program associate.

Shelden's work for the 2010-2011 academic year will focus on the development and advancement of the College by facilitating progress on the seventh goal of the College of Education Five Year Plan: increasing endowments and alternative resources. The specific focus of this project will be to develop the College’s relationship with alumni in the 35–55 year age group. Though this group is targeted to some extent through general advancement efforts, there is potential for expanding that network of and increasing contributions from alumni in this age group.

The purpose of the newly created COE Leadership Development Program associate position is to allow faculty to have an opportunity for early career development by expanding the "big picture" view, developing a "lead from where you are" capacity, and empowering them to advance their work and initiative through the appropriate administrative channels at all levels of the University.
