(October 17, 2009) With a great spot in the sun, popcorn and candy for everyone, and a close-up view of the parade, the College of Education hospitality tent was the perfect setting to get everybody into school spirit and connect with both new and old Redbirds. Students, friends and family enjoyed over 100 floats, including the University High School and Metcalf School marching bands.
Alumnus John Tenny, '74, who was inducted into the College of Education's Hall of Fame just earlier that morning, came from Oregon to participate in the festivities. "I haven't been to a college football game since 1959, so I thought I'd better do this while I'm here." He and his wife enjoyed mingling with fellow alumni, and faculty and staff.
Trisha Klass, chair of from the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations was on hand to pop popcorn and hand out an abundance of freebies, including flashlights and water bottles. Klass loves the opportunity to catch up with the College alumni and to hear their stories. "It's really nice to hear what ISU meant to these people. It's really inspiring."
The College would like to offer a special word of thanks to the Alamo II for hosting the College on the sidewalk outside their store at 319 North Street and for providing the popcorn and popcorn machine.
