Fansler named Assistant Dean for Educational Technology

(August 13, 2009) Ken Fansler has been named assistant dean for Educational Technology in the College of Education. Under the supervision of Dean Deborah Curtis, Fansler will be responsible for the promotion and support of the educational use of technology within the College.  He will work closely with faculty, department chairs, associate deans, and campus leadership to enhance the planning and instructional use of technology; play a key role in advancing online, hybrid, and Web-enhanced course instruction at the college level; collaborate with partner PK-12 schools and peer colleges and schools of education; and represent the college on internal and external technology planning committees.

Since 1994, Fansler served as the director of Technology Services for the College of Education. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of technology services beyond traditional tech support to cutting-edge teaching, learning, and communications technology-enriched initiatives that enhance the college's strategic plan. In addition, he mentored technology support staff to achieve leadership roles within his division and across campus.
