(October 28, 2008) Illinois State University, on the strength of a $750,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, has implemented the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. The scholarship will be awarded to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teacher education majors in their junior and senior years of study. The award will provide a minimum of $10,000 per year for the future teachers and a $5,000 stipend is available for people who are changing careers. In exchange, the recipients will commit to teaching for at least two years in a CPS upon successful completion of their teaching certification at Illinois State.
