It Starts With Education

The theme it starts with education relates to me because to learn is the heart of life. If you give children what they need at any age they will go and further their life and have a meaningful foundation.

Was there a particular event or experience that made you decide to pursue the field of education?

I am the oldest of seven children and always have been a nurturing and loving person. I had to take care of my sisters and brother and do many things that enabled me to be a teacher. My education at ISU prepared me in the up most ways for a wonderful teaching career.

How did you know that you were meant to be an educator?

I know that I was meant to be an educator when I said that I can't see myself doing anything else with my life.

Was there a particular faculty member or class that helped shape your thinking on the role of educators?

I think what shaped my thinking on the role of educators came with many years of experience under my belt. I really began to understand what we do and how to do it well only after many experiences in the classroom.

What was the most significant aspect of your student teaching experience?

My cooperating teacher and the ability to have the classroom independently to gain confidence and success.

If you were no longer a teacher (retired or left the field), please tell us how you use your knowledge as an educator in your life today.

I would use my knowledge as an educator to help new teachers. I can offer experience and guidance which is so valuable to young people starting out.

Tell us about a new invention that came about during your teaching career and changed the way you taught.
