Garageband comes on Macintosh computers and is a great program for composing music using loops of pre-recorded music or the student can record their own music. Podcasts can also be created in Garageband.
No demos here but you can read about the program and see sample screens. The view is especially good for students with some types of learning disabilities that impact music reading because music is displayed in either traditional music notation or graphic notation.
