Can I keep working while taking classes?
The program is designed for people currently working within schools during the school year period. Classes will be offered in the evenings during the fall and spring semester. During summer months, classes will be offered on a full time basis only. Upon successful completion of these courses, you will receive a stipend.
How much does the program cost?
If you complete the program and the three-year commitment following your certification, the instructional program is nearly free. There will be minimal costs, such as textbooks, tests, etc. Most materials will be provided by the grant.
Do I need to have access to the Internet?
Yes, you will need to be able to access the Internet regularly for a variety of assignments and for communication. Illinois State will provide you with additional assistance and instructions for use.
How far do I have to travel to take classes?
Minimal travel is required. Classes will be offered in a central Chicago area.
Am I guaranteed a job in my current school?
No, you are not guaranteed a job in your current school. You will be able to apply for a position at your school and within your school district, but if there are no openings you will have to find a position in another high-needs school in a high-need district.
