Curriculum and Faculty

Curriculum

The Bilingual Paraprofessionals in Transition (BPT) curriculum is based on the required curriculum for Elementary Education Type 03 certification and the required courses for bilingual approval. The courses will be offered in a central Chicago location. The program's curriculum leads to a baccalaureate degree and/or leads to eligibility for state certification as a teacher with bilingual approval.

4 Prerequisites (Foundations in literature for children, Exceptional learner, Structure of number systems II, Explaining Human Behavior)

19 Courses = 56 credit hours from program major courses

12 Hours Student Teaching Internship (Internship II)

68 total BPT hours

Faculty

The BPT faculty consist of educators who possess experiences in the various aspects of elementary teacher education, as well as bilingual/bicultural educators with experiences in bilingual/ESL education. Other faculty members, with appropriate academic preparation, provide support through the delivery of courses and workshops. These faculty members include:
